This full quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM/GPRS solution, a complete hardware/software reference design supplied with all the components for a finished product, supports HR/FR/EFT/AMR codecs. It uses mature, volume-produced technology to assure rapid capitalization and the fastest time-to-market for an optimized solution. It uses an ARM946-based architecture that runs at 130 MHz and is tuned for multimedia performance. It includes a Release 99 modem compliant with the latest GCF/PTCRB tests, and has been fully validated with a wide range of interoperability testing (IOT). It also offers Single Antenna Interference Cancellation (SAIC) via NXP Mono Interference Cancellation (MIC) technology. The core system consists of a high-performance baseband, a power management unit (PMU) with a fully integrated battery charger, and a four-band transceiver.
The 5211 is designed for audio performance and delivers a music experience that rivals best-in-class media players. Audio features include MP3 and FM radio in recordable stereo, as well as high-quality, 64-channel polyphonic ringtone generation, Hands Free, and other audio enhancements.
The 5211 reduces power consumption and extends battery life, delivering one of the best autonomy ratings in the market. With a single weekly charge on a 900-mA battery, a 5211-based handset can deliver 20 minutes of voice calling and 40 minutes of music a day – an equivalent of about 18 hours of MP3 or roughly 4.5 hours of video playback.
Advanced power management covers the entire phone, with real-time, software-controlled functions that instantly optimize to current requirements. Also, a DC/DC converter ensures high efficiency for the power supply, and the system supports CCCV charging.
